PRX Faces History

Hi friend of PRX,

The new JFK special (below) has been months in the making – it contains voices never heard, memories never shared. Historic. A big welcome to Ken Rudin, the Political Junkie, now on PRX! Speaking of politics, look at the latest IEEE Spectrum special below. And HUGE congrats to the Third Coast award winners and friends.

Third Coast Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the Third Coast Festival Competition: Radiolab, This American Life, Love + Radio, WNYC’s Radio Rookies, WLRN-Miami Herald News, BBC World Service, and more!

They’ll be arriving on PRX as part of the annual Best of the Best: The Third Coast Festival Broadcast, a Thanksgiving-weekend tradition for many stations. Posted to PRX.org and ready for preview on Nov. 18. Promos coming Nov. 4.

(P.S. Did you miss Filmless Fest? Our own Rekha Murthy shares her experiences.)

Veterans Day

Nov. 11

  • Exclusive: Reveal – the new investigative pilot from PRX and The Center for Investigative Reporting, covers the VA’s over-prescription of opiates to addicted veterans.
  • From Hearing Voices: Vet Vox — Vietnam, Korean, and World War Two vets, recorded by StoryCorps, along with a Marine Sergeant’s recent “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” discharge.
  • The Things They Carry: U.S. Soldiers in Afghanistan from Jake Warga: Inspired by Tim O’Brien’s Pulitzer-nominated book, this series asks U.S. soldiers serving in Afghanistan what they have to carry.
