PRX Pokes at Reform

Hi friend of PRX,

As the Supreme Court weighs the Health Care Reform law, PRX reminds stations that healthy change doesn’t hurt a bit. Not when fresh creative sounds are so good for you: treat your listeners to the classic talent of Bonnie Raitt; or the touching, intimate moments of Allen Ginsberg with a dear and dying friend. Explore what fast really means, and the limits of crackpot medicine — the kind that messed with Walt Whitman’s brain.

Feeling better?
-John

Go For It

Life Lessons from Girl Boxers

“You said boxing is a man’s sport. That made me so mad.” – Claressa Shields

Women will enter the boxing ring for the first time in the 2012 Summer Olympics.

WNYC and PRX are proud to present a special about their journey: Go For It. The special explores why these women box and why we expect them not to. The program is hosted by actor Rosie Perez.

This hour is perfect for airing before or during the Olympics, starting July 27. Go For It is sound-rich and provocative storytelling that you won’t want listeners to miss.

From WNYC and PRX. Produced by Marianne McCune and Sue Jaye Johnson.

Promos and slideshow to come soon.
