I ♥ Radio on PRX

Hi friend of PRX,

This is the day we profess our love… our love for the creativity, laughter and doggedness of those who make cool radio.

Some of the people and shows that demonstrate that love best made the PRX Zeitfunk Awards list for 2011!

We run across the heartbeat of radio all the time on PRX: the funny pre-schoolers confessing to a self-administered haircut; a love story for the ages; an historical music moment; the incredible impact of digital sound; and a life-saving twist of fate.

Grab a mic. Make something we’ll love…
-John

Some Cool Stuff

We’re listening to the new

The top three programs in this list are ready for air from PRX, and the last one is just awesome. Take a listen!

Top of the Charts

Zeitfunkin’

Don’t miss the 2011 Zeitfunk Awards!

They show the Most Licensed Stations, Most Listened-to Pieces, Stations that Licensed the Most, and more — think of them as the PRX Oscars.

Plus, we love stats! Some highlights:

  • In 2011, 8,000 individual pieces were licensed; many of those more than once. The total number of licenses was 17,488 (that’s 4,062 more than 2010).
  • Over 200 stations are active members of PRX — we’re happy to have you as part of our community!

See all the stats, new categories (like Most Embedded), and fun stuff at the Zeitfunk Awards.

Other Good Stuff

  • PRX’s embeddable audio players are now available to all members. Embed station work and producers’ pieces you air on your station website. And, pieces are now open by default for anyone to listen without logging in. Learn all about this.
  • Bullied: A Generation PRX special is coming next week. Produced by teens, Conn. Public Radio, and Generation PRX. Watch for it!
  • The radio tribe will be gathering at the Third Coast Festival Oct. 5-7 in Evanston, Ill. Registration opens June 6.
