Responsibilities
Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Business Development is a member of the senior leadership team and has the following primary responsibilities:
- Establish and execute a business development strategy that leverages PRX’s broadcast and digital content and distribution assets;
- Lead a collaborative evaluation and planning process across existing efforts, coordinating with senior staff and other stakeholders;
- Develop strategic growth plans, marketing, sales and revenue goals for each PRX product and service;
- Develop, implement and manage sales processes, pricing and fee structures, tracking and analysis methods;
- Identify and manage advertising, underwriting and sponsorship opportunities;
- Build and manage long-term relationships with key partners and clients;
- Negotiate and draft agreements, consulting with senior staff and outside counsel as needed;
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities; supervise related staff and contractors.
Areas of Focus
- Mobile application development for internal products as well as for stations, producers and other clients;
- Content licensing and syndication for broadcast and digital platforms.
PRX is a mission-driven entrepreneurial nonprofit, and the Director of Business Development will help define and employ criteria, values and metrics across all business activities in support of PRX’s public service goals, and with an emphasis on increasing shared revenue opportunities with stations, independent producers, and other partners.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experienced business development and sales executive with six + years of experience in media distribution, licensing, product development;
- Demonstrated success generating revenue across multiple products and services;
- Extensive knowledge of media technology and business, with proven track record in structuring and negotiating successful long-term partnerships;
- Some knowledge of public media sector;
- Understanding of business implications of software and web application development processes;
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and build relationships with partner organizations;
- Excellent communicator, with outstanding writing, analytical, and verbal presentation skills;
- Willingness to travel on a regular basis, as needed.
Location:
Strong preference for position to be based at PRX HQ in Cambridge, MA.
